My Teaching
Philosophy
I believe in having plenty of organized hands-on
experience in my science classroom including laboratories, demonstrations,
field trips, and using technology to bring experiences into the classroom
when real life ones are not readily available. Our classroom may get
a little messy, but we're sure to learn in ways that allow us to apply
science to real life. We also will have lectures to learn material,
but I encourage plenty of lively discussions and questions with some sort
of experience to make it real. My homework includes both individual
and group projects because I feel it is important to be able to do both in
the students' future employment. Since science is often integrated
with other topics, I may collaborate with teachers
of other subjects to do a lesson. I also like to encourage critical
and independent thinking about life and how to solve problems. My
goal of teaching is to make science interesting and learning fun in a
supportive, caring, and intellectually challenging environment for all
students.
